LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to 16th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sunday morning at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
The Blue Jays took two of the three doubles matches, with each team claiming a close 8-6 decision and JHU taking an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, three of the matches went to a third set, with Hopkins taking two of the three. W&L claimed victories by sophomore Zack Ely (Norwalk, Conn. / Brien McMahon) at No. 3 and junior Mac Zheng (Leawood, Kan. / Pembroke Hill) at No. 5.
With the loss, W&L fell to 2-1 overall, while the Blue Jays improved to 1-0 on the year.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Thursday when it hosts a pair of ODAC matches. The Generals have Randolph at 3:00 pm and Lynchburg at 7:00 pm.
