PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team was knocked off by seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 8-1, on Saturday morning in Pittsburgh.
The Tartans took all three doubles matches and cruised to the win by claiming five of the six singles matches. The lone win for W&L was a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory by first-year Zack Ely (Norwalk, Conn. / Brien McMahon) over Vayum Arora at No. 3 singles.
The loss dropped W&L to 9-4 overall, while CMU improved to 11-5.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Guilford (12:00 pm) and Hampden-Sydney (3:00 pm).
