LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 31st-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team was defeated by 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins by a score of 6-3 on Sunday at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
JHU took all three doubles points to jump out to a 3-0 lead, but the Generals snatched each of the top two singles matches to climb back into the match. Senior Michael Holt (Henrico, Va. / Mills Godwin) notched a 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 10-6 victory over Scott Thygesen at No. 1 and junior Jordan Krasner (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) knocked off Nicholas Garcia in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Will Bannister (Bath, England / Beechen Cliff School) also notched a singles win, downing David Perez by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
The loss dropped W&L to 5-2, while the Blue Jays improved to 4-0 with the win.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when it hosts 15th-ranked Mary Washington for a 2:00 pm contest.
