GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team edged 10th-ranked Washington and Lee, 5-4, on the first day of competition at the ITA Division III National Team Indoor Championship hosted by DePauw on Friday.
The Blue and White claimed all three doubles matches to head into singles action with a 3-0 advantage.
Junior Brooke Donnelly (Kennesaw, Ga. / Marietta) won at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, but Johns Hopkins won five singles matches to pull away for the win.
With the loss, the Generals fall to a 2-1 overall record, while the Blue Jays improve to 1-0.
W&L returns to the court on Saturday, when it faces 14th-ranked DePauw at 8:30 am.
