AMHERST, Va. -- The 24th-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee men's tennis team defeated second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship match by a score of 5-0 on Sunday at Sweet Briar College.
The conference title was W&L's fifth straight and 33rd in the 38 years that the ODAC has awarded a team championship trophy.
The Generals won all three doubles matches by scores of 8-3 to take a 3-0 lead into singles competition. In singles, first-year Jordan Krasner (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) and sophomore Brian Krouskos (Alpharetta, Ga. / Mount Pisgah Christian) both won their matches by scores of 6-1, 6-0 to close out the match. Krasner won at No. 4 singles, while Krouskos was victorious at No. 5 singles.
The victory improved W&L's overall record to 17-4, just one win from tying the 2008 and 1975 teams for the second-most wins in program history. The 2007 squad holds the mark with a 20-3 record. Virginia Wesleyan fell to 15-5 with the loss.
The Generals earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which will begin on May 9-11 at selected on-campus sites.
