SALEM, Va. -- The 20th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated the Maroons of Roanoke, 9-0, on Monday afternoon at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 13-2 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the conference, while the Maroons fell to 13-2 on the season and 9-1 in ODAC action.
The Generals started the competition taking all three doubles matches to earn the early 3-0 advantage. No. 3 doubles team consisting of first-year Brooke Donnelly (Kennesaw, Ga. / Marietta) and senior Claire Cahill (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) led the team with an 8-0 victory.
W&L continued its winning ways by taking all six singles matches in two sets. Junior Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va. / Flint Hill) won at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1 to lead all singles action.
The Generals will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Sewanee for a 2:00 pm match.
