LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team fell to 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sunday by a final score of 9-0 at the W&L outdoor courts.
The Generals dropped a close one at No. 1 doubles, as the team of junior Taylor Shamshiri (Austin, Texas / ATA College Prep) and sophomore Michael Holt (Henrico, Va. / Mills Godwin) were defeated by the tandem of Emerson Walsh and Michael Buxbaum, 9-8 (7-5).
In singles, the Generals dropped all six matches despite taking matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles to a third set.
With the loss, W&L fell to 5-1 overall, while the Blue Jays improved to 3-2 with the win.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Guilford for a 4:30 pm match.
