LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Courts.
The win improved W&L to 15-5 on the season and was the 200th in the career of Head Coach David Detwiler. Over his 13 seasons, Detwiler has produced a 200-74 (.730) overall record while winning 11 ODAC titles and advancing to the NCAA Tournament 11 times.
The top-seeded Generals dropped just five points in claiming the three doubles points and then notched wins at Nos. 2-3 singles to advance to the semifinal round. The loss dropped the eighth-seeded Tigers to 5-9 overall.
Washington and Lee returns to action next Saturday in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament held at Virginia Wesleyan. The Generals will face either fourth-seeded Guilford or fifth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan.
