ATLANTA, Ga. -- The 15th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated 16th-ranked Tufts on Friday afternoon in the Fab 7 Tournament hosted by Emory University.
The Generals took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to enter singles play with a 2-1 lead. Sophomores Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va. / Flint Hill), Meghan Buell (New Albany, Ohio / New Albany) and Patricia Kirkland (Charleston, S.C. / Ashley Hall) all won their singles matches and W&L held on for the win.
The victory improved W&L to 11-2 overall, while the Jumbos dropped to 2-2.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Sewanee at 9:00 am at Emory.
