FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The 23rd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to 24th-ranked Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg.
The Generals took No. 1 doubles, but dropped matches at Nos. 2-3 to fall behind 2-1 entering singles play. Senior Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over UMW's Tyler Carey at No. 1 singles, but W&L managed just one more singles win, junior Vincent Kim (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) at No. 6, as the Eagles notched the win.
With the loss, W&L fell to 7-3 overall. Mary Washington improved to 9-6 with the victory.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Emory & Henry for a 10:00 am match.
