LEXINGTON, Va. – Women's tennis head coach Eric Ishida earned his 100th win, as the Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Sweet Briar, 9-0, in ODAC action on Monday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
To date, Ishida has tallied a 100-15 record in his four years as head coach for the Generals. He has led W&L to three ODAC Championships and NCAA appearances, including a trip to the National Championship round in 2008 where the Generals fell to Williams, 4-5.
With the victory, W&L is now holding a 13-2 overall record and posted a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play, while SBC fell to 2-5 on the season and 0-3 in the ODAC. The Generals are currently on a 12-game winning streak, not losing a match since February 18.
W&L began the day with a strong 3-0 showing in doubles play, and continued its dominance on the court as the Generals swept the Vixens in singles action.
Seniors Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School), Jen Snyder (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), Ann Morris (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) and Ashley Leinweber (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) each registered a 2-0 record, including the winning match by Sadler at No. 2 singles as the Generals celebrated Senior Day.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host No. 1 Williams to kick-off the Fab Five Invitational. The match is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
