LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team knocked off its second ranked opponent in as many days and increased its winning streak to eight straight matches with a 5-4 win over 16th-ranked Mary Washington on Sunday afternoon at the W&L Courts.
W&L had defeated 23rd-ranked Case Western Reserve on Saturday and the Generals took a 3-0 lead on the Eagles by winning all three doubles matches on Sunday. Junior Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) clinched the match when he posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Evan Charles at No. 1 singles.
With the win, W&L improved to 10-3 overall, while the Eagles fell to 4-8.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Bridgewater for a 4:00 pm match.
