LEXINGTON, Va. -- The eighth-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed its 21st ODAC title in program history after defeating No. 2 seed Hollins University, 5-0, in the championship match of the ODAC Tournament on Sunday morning at the W&L Upper Courts.
With the win, the Generals claimed their 21st ODAC championship in 26 seasons of competition, and their 10th-consecutive title. W&L also received the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on May 13.
The Generals notched wins at all three doubles positions, while junior Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School) and senior Catherine Reed (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) posted victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to close out the match. The remainder of the singles matches were left unfinished.
W&L is now 18-6 on the season, while Hollins finished its 2011 campaign with a 16-4 overall mark.
W&L will return to action in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which begins on May 13.
