WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team recorded a 7-2 victory over Christopher Newport on Saturday evening at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on the campus of the College of William & Mary.
The Generals recovered after dropping two of three doubles matches to win all six singles matches. Sophomore Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) and junior Jeremy Becht (Woodstock, Ga./Etowah) posted wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, defeating players ranked third and sixth in the region, respectively.
With the win, W&L improved to 10-1 overall on the season. The loss dropped CNU to 6-4 overall. The Generals match against NC Wesleyan slated for Sunday has been postponed so W&L will return to action on Tuesday as it travels to Roanoke for a 3:30 pm match.
