SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee
men's tennis team claimed a 7-2 victory over Swarthmore on
Sunday morning in Swarthmore, Pa.
The Generals claimed wins at the final five singles positions
and the bottom two doubles positions in winning for just the second
time in their last six matches.
Sophomores Jeremy Becht (Woodstock, Ga./Etowah) and Michael
Freeman (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) and senior Cliff Gaddy (Gulfport,
Miss./Gulfport) all won their singles matches in two sets, while
junior Will Hall (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and
sophomore Mac Davis (Prospect, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) both won
in three sets.
With the win, W&L improved to 9-6 overall, while Swarthmore
fell to 2-6 on the season.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it travels
to Bridgewater for a 3:00 pm contest.
