LEXINGTON, Va. – The sixth-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated the 13th-ranked Mary Washington, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the W&L Outdoor Courts.

With the win, Washington and Lee improved to 9-3 on the season, while Mary Washington now owns a record of 5-2.

Highlights for the match included Atlantic South ranked players No. 7 senior Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) defeating No. 18 Courtney Goimarac, 6-1, 6-1, in number one singles and sophomore Ellen Yeatman (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) defeating No. 21 Katie Schafer, 6-3, 6-2 in number two singles. Senior Blair Breski (Westlake Village, Calif./Agoura) also overcame a 5-2 deficit in the second set to defeat Danielle Velardi, 6-1, 7-5 in number six singles.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Bridgewater and Hollins.
