4/8/2026 1:25:00 PM

LEXINGTON, Va. - First-year infielder Alex Caywood of the Washington and Lee University baseball team was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week after an impressive week at the plate.

Caywood, a Chantilly, Va. native, earned his first national recognition of his career while joining a small list of Generals to be honored on the weekly honor roll. He is the fifth player in program history and the first since Evan Blair '25 earned laurels in 2023.

Caywood had a standout week at the plate last week, going 9-of-13 (.692) with two doubles and a triple. He drove in five runs while drawing six walks to help lead the Blue and White to a pair of wins. He posted an on-base percentage of .789 while slugging 1.000. He went 2-for-2 in their win against Wilson College on Monday with a triple and an RBI with three walks before registering two hits in four at-bats against No. 6 Shenandoah. In game two of their doubleheader against Roanoke, Caywood went 5-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI while drawing a walk.

??Caywood and the Generals are back in action on Wednesday as they host Southern Virginia in a non conference match up at 5 p.m. at Cap'n Dick Smith Field.
