Women’s Track & Field Kicks Off Doc Jopson Invite with Trio of Top Five Finishes

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team kicked off the Doc Jopson Invite on Friday with a pair of top five finishes.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Josie Engle posted the lone first place finish for the Blue and White in the 3,000m steeplechase, coasting to a time of 11:56.13 which is the eighth-fastest in program history. Julie Anne Bush joined Engle in the event, finishing right behind her in second place with a time of 12:18.82. 
  • Leah Smith and Emily Jackson both competed in the discus this afternoon with Smith finishing in fourth place with a toss of 34.32m (112'-07.00"). Jackson finished in 12th place with a mark of 28.19m (92'-05.75").
