JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - Three members of the fourth-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team are sitting within the top 25 after the first round of action at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
The Blue and White are sitting in a tie for 5th place at seven-under par with No. 12 Southwestern (Texas). No. 6 Sewanee and No. 1 Huntingdon are leading the field after one round of action, shooting 17-under par while No. 3 Carnegie Mellon sits in third with a score of nine-under par and No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan rounds out the top four at eight-under par. The Blue and White played holes one through nine at four-under par with eight birdies while shooting three-under par with nine birdies and an eagle from William Hull.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- William Hull sits in a tie for 15th place after firing a three-under par (69) in the first round. Hull kicked off the day with a pair of birdies on holes 12 (353-yard, par 4) and 15 (520-yard, par 5) before capping off the first nine with an eagle on the 485-yard par 5. He finished the round with four birdies, including three in a five-hole stretch.
- No. 1 Jonathan McEwen is right alongside Hull after firing a bogey-free round of three-under par (69) to sit in a tie for 15th place. McEwen rattled off five straight pars before tallying a pair of birdies in the final four holes of the first nine on holes 15 (520-yard, par 5) and 18 (485-yard, par 5). On the second nine, he added six pars before recording his final birdie of the day on hole seven, a 523-yard par 5.
- No. 11 Tim Kaufman is in 25th place after posting a two-under par (70) in the first round of action. He carded three birdies on the first nine (10-18) with five pars before kicking off the second nine with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2 along with six pars.
- Charlie Krasnewich rounded out the scoring four with a score of one-over par. He shot two-over par on the first nine with two birdies in a three-hole stretch and four pars. Krasnewich opened the second nine with a birdie on the 528-yard par 5 and added eight consecutive pars to finish the round with a 73.
- Turner Edwards finished round one in 144th place with a score of 10-over par, carding one birdie and seven pars.
