Krasnewich Leads No. 4/5 Men’s Golf at Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. - The No. 4/5 Washington and Lee University men's golf team wrapped up the Tiger Invitational with T-6th place finish while sophomore Charlie Krasnewich paced the team with a sixth place finish.

The Blue and White tied with No. 27 Lynchburg for sixth place with a score of seven-over par (293-286-292 - 871). The Generals shot four-over par in today's final round with eight birdies and an eagle. No. 11 Methodist secured the team title with a score of 13-under par, shooting four-under in round three. No. 1 Huntingdon finished in second place with a score of seven-under par while No. 6 Sewanee and No. 2 Emory tied for third at two-over par. No. 18 Kenyon rounded out the top five with a score of five-over par after shooting one-under as a team in round three.

In the final round, the Generals played the first nine holes at three-over par with three birdies before carding a one-over par on the second nine (10-18) with five birdies and an eagle from Tim Kaufman.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Charlie Krasnewich paced the group on the final day as he moved up five spots to finish in a tie for 6th place. He followed up his 71 (Round 1) and 70 (Round 2) with a two-under par 70, recording three birdies and 14 pars to secure his first top-ten finish of the season. Krasnewich was second in the tournament in par-4 scoring at two-under par while playing the par 5s at two-under par as well. He ranked tied for 4th in total pars, carding 41 during 54 holes of action.
  • No. 1-ranked Jonathan McEwen dropped five spots in the final round to finish in a tie for 12th place after carding a three-over par 75. He recorded two birdies this afternoon, with one on hole 6, a 384-yard par 4, and hole 16, a 180-yard par 3. McEwen played the par 3s and par 5s at one-under par during the three rounds of action.
  • Tim Kaufman, the 14th-ranked golfer in Division III, moved up 12 spots in the final round to finish in a tie for 19th place at one-over par. He followed up his 74 (Round 1) and 72 (Round 2) with a one-under par 71 in the final 18 holes. Kaufman recorded two birdies and an eagle on hole 10, a 557-yard par 5, to cap off the tournament. He led the tournament with a pair of eagles, one in round two on hole three (540-yard par 5) and one in round three on hole 10 (557-yard par 5). He played the par 3s at even par while shooting three-under par on the par 5s.
  • William Hull moved down six spots this afternoon to finish in a tie for 54th place with a score of nine-over par. He recorded a birdie on hole two, a 192-yard par 3, while adding 14 pars. Hull shot three-under par on the par 5s this week while shooting even par on the par 3s.
  • Turner Edwards fell five spots to finish in a tie for 97th place with a score of 22-over par. He shot an eight-over par 80 in round three with three birdies, including two straight on holes 16 and 17.

  • The No. 4/5 Generals are back in action on Mar. 20-22 as they head to Georgia for the second time this spring season for the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. They will play the Pine Lake Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
