SALEM, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team looks to defend their Indoor Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Title this weekend in Salem, Va. as they conference meet kicks off on Saturday afternoon.
Last season, the Blue and White hoisted their first conference crown since 2009 following a historic two-day performance inside the Cregger Center. The Generals scored a staggering 197.75 points while winning seven of the sixteen events. W&L returns 13 All-ODAC performers from last season including ODAC Champion
Olivia Warr,
Bailey Hedgemon,
Camille Gillum and
Jesma Evans. Warr won a pair of events last season, claiming gold in the 5,000m and 3,000m with time of 17:41.40 and 9:48.64, respectively. She holds the top time in the mile run (5:09.15) and the third-best time in the 3,000m (10:35.81) behind Delaney Saulsbury of Lynchburg and Ester Zar of Virginia Wesleyan.
Bailey Hedgmon secured a win last season in the weight throw after recording a toss of 16.28m (53'-05.00") while finishing third in the shot put to earn a pair of All-ODAC honors. She heads into the championship with the top mark in the weight throw (16.94m) while ranking ninth in the shot put (10.98m).
Camille Gillum claimed her second career high jump title after clearing a winning height of 1.64m (5'-04.00"). She heads into the weekend with the top mark in the event at 1.70m.
Jesma Evans is the final returning ODAC Champion from last season, claiming gold in the 400m with a program and meet record time of 57.30s. She ranks second in the 400m with a time of 57.39s behind Lindsey Hobin of Roanoke while ranking fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.37s.
The Generals have five Second Team All-ODAC returners including
Emily Jackson, who turned in a second place finish in the shot put last season with a program record mark of 12.15m (39'-10.50"). She ranks 4th heading into the weekend with a mark of 11.89m.
Ana Hodneland, Evans and
Lucie Graziano are returning from the Second Team All-ODAC 4x400m relay team from last season who turned in a second place finish with a time of 4:02.69. Graziano also added a Third Team honor after finishing third in the 800m with a time of 2:22.43. She heads into the event with the eighth-best mark with a time of 2:26.94.
Layla Keadle rounds out the All-ODAC selections with a Third Team nod. Keadle finished in third place in the pole vault last season after clearing a height of 3.41m (11'-02.25"). She ranks second in the event heading into the weekend with a mark of 3.47m.
