2026 W&L Men's Golf Spring Preview

LEXINGTON, Va. - The 8th-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team returns to action on Monday, March 2nd to kick off the spring portion of their 2025-26 season.

The Blue and White completed the fall with a 285.2 scoring average over nine rounds played while posting a 35-18-1 record. They opened up the fall schedule with a 6th place finish at the Gate City Invite in Greensboro before finishing in. T-9th place at the NCAA Preview at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The concluded the fall sale with a 6th place finish at the Tartan Invitational at Laurel Valley Golf Club.

W&L was ranked 8th in both the Scoreboard by Clipped and Bushnell/Golfweek Division III polls.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS

The Generals have a pair of golfers inside the Top 20 in the Clipped individual rankings with Jonathan McEwen remaining as the No. 1 ranked golfer in Division III. McEwen T-1st at the Gate Cite Invite in their season opener with a score of 6-under par before finishing 4th at the NCAA Preview (-6) and the Tartan Invitational (+4). In nine rounds this season, he has a scoring average of 68.3 with a 288-6-6 record over opponents. He leads the team with six eagles while registering 30 birdies and 97 pars. 

Tim Kaufman is ranked 14th in the individual ranks after posting a 70.1 scoring average during the fall season with a record of 251-41-8 against opponents. He finished in 20th place with a score of 3-over par at the Gate City Invite before firing off 9th place finish at the NCAA Preview with a score of 2-under par. He rounded out the fall slate with a 15th place finish at the Tartan Invitational with a score of 7-over par.

2026 SPRING SCHEDULE OVERVIEW 

The Generals spring schedule features four tournaments before they had to Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va. for the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships on April 19-21. 

W&L will head to Georgia for the Savannah Invitational at The Club at Savannah Harbor on March 2-3 which features seven of the top ten Division III teams. Individual members of the team will also compete at the Port City Invite on Monday and Tuesday at the Savannah Country Club.

The next week, the Blue and White will head down to Pinehurst, N.C. for the Tiger Invitational on March 9-10 to play the North Course at the Forest Creek Golf Club. They will end March with a trip back to Georgia for the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on the 20-22 at the Jekyll Island Golf Club. 

W&L will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Pratville, Ala. for the Capital City Classic at the RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill on April 6-7.

The ODAC Tournament spans three days in Amherst, Va. with the champion earning the leagues' automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The National Championships will take place at the Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on May 12-15.
