ASHLAND, Va. - The Washington and Lee University football team dropped their third game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Randolph-Macon College 24-6 at Day Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellow Jackets (3-1, 2-0 ODAC) received the opening kickoff and immediately took control, using nearly nine and a half minutes of game clock to open the scoring. They marched down the field with a 16-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, capped by a seven-yard score from Mitchell Johnson to take a 7–0 lead.
- W&L's (1-3, 1-1 ODAC) first drive was cut short after just three plays, resulting in a punt. RMC quickly capitalized, needing just four plays to extend the lead as Johnson took a handoff around the left side and raced 40 yards into the end zone, putting the Yellow Jackets ahead 14-0.
- Neither offense found the end zone again until the fourth quarter, when Randolph-Macon capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a six-yard rushing touchdown from Cameron Chatmon to make it 21-0.
- The Generals responded on the next drive, as Anthony Crawford broke free for a 49-yard run up the middle to the Yellow Jackets' five-yard line. On the very next play, he called his own number and punched it in from five yards out. However, the extra point attempt failed, leaving the score at 21-6 in favor of RMC.
- Randolph-Macon added the final points of the game with one minute remaining, as Trevor Luther knocked down a 25-yard field goal to seal the 24-6 win.
