No. 3 Men’s Golf Holds Steady in 10th Place after 36 Holes

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The third-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team is holding steady in 10th place out of 24 teams after 36 holes of the NCAA Preview at the Mission Inn Resort.

The Blue and White remained tied for 10th place after posting an eight-over-par 292 for the second consecutive round, finishing 16-over (292–292—584) as a team through two days of competition. Oglethorpe climbed two spots to take the lead, shooting three-under (285) today, with their top three players finishing under par.


The Generals shot for-over on the front nine of the El Campeón course this morning, recording three birdies, before tightening up on the back nine with a four-over performance that included six birdies. Emory joins Oglethorpe as the only other team under par at one-under, after carding a one-over 289.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sophomore Tim Kaufman led the Generals in round two with a one-under 71, highlighted by four birdies and 11 pars. He capped his round with four straight pars, with three of his birdies coming in a five-hole stretch. Kaufman sits tied for 15th at one-over (73–72—145) and ranks second in the tournament in par-5 scoring at four-under (4.42 average).
  • Junior Jonathan McEwen posted an even-par 72 on Monday and is tied for fifth out of 120 golfers at two-under (70–72—142). He carded two birdies with 14 pars, closing the back nine with a birdie on No. 10 and eight straight pars. McEwen leads the field in eagles (1), ranks second in par-5 scoring at four-under, is tied for 17th in par-4 scoring (+1, 4.05 average), and tied for 19th in total pars (23).
  • First-year William Hull turned in a four-over 76, sitting tied for 91st at 11-over (78–76—154). He recorded three birdies and nine pars, finishing strong with a birdie on the par-5 17th and pars on four of his final five holes.
  • Senior Turner Edwards shot a five-over 77 to move into a tie for 85th at ten-over (76–77—153). His round included a birdie on the par-4 ninth and four straight pars to close.
  • Sophomore Charlie Krasnewich carded a six-over 78 to fall into a tie for 77th at nine-over (74–78—152), recording 12 pars on the day.
