GREENWOOD, Ind. - Law Student Cassie Carr of the Washington and Lee University women's cross country and track & field programs was honored as a Second Team Academic All-America® selection, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Carr earns her third consecutive Academic All-America honor from CSC after previously garnering Second Team recognition in 2023-24 and Third Team honors in 2022-23. She becomes the fifth student-athlete in program history to earn this prestigious accolade and the first since Annelise Madison '14 secured Third Team honors in 2013-14.

The Girard, Pennsylvania, native completed her first year at the Washington and Lee University School of Law while balancing cross country and track & field training and competition. During the cross country season, Carr earned First Team All-ODAC and All-Region honors for her performances. She finished seventh at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships and fourth at the NCAA South Region Championships, helping lead the team to titles in both events for the first time since 2019. At the National Championship, she placed 86th individually, contributing to the team's eighth-place finish—their highest finish in program history.

On the track, Carr competed during the indoor season for the Blue and White, helping the team secure its first ODAC title since 2009. She set a program and championship meet record in the mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:57.66 to claim the individual title and earn First Team All-ODAC honors. She also secured Third Team recognition in the 3,000 meters after finishing third with a time of 10:10.73. Her record-breaking mile time qualified her for the NCAA Indoor National Championships—her first trip to the national meet in track & field—where she earned Second Team All-American honors after finishing 11th and resetting her own program record with a time of 4:56.58.

Carr also added First Team (Mid-Distance) and Second Team (Distance) honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State teams, along with three All-Region accolades from the USTFCCCA in the Distance Medley Relay, mile, and 3,000 meters.

This season's Academic All-America recognition adds to Carr's impressive list of career achievements. She was named the NCAA Division III Cross Country Elite 90 Award recipient in 2023 and the 2023-24 President's Athletic Conference (PAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year while earning multiple Dean's List honors. She has also earned four PAC Academic Honor Roll citations, three USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades, and was named VaSID Academic All-State this year.
