5/5/2025 4:07:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the 2025 Division III Women's Tennis Team Championship field on Monday, and Washington and Lee was selected host first through third round action.

The Generals (17-5), who claimed the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 win over Averett, will host a six-team pod starting on Friday and earned a first-round bye into Saturday's second round. Second-ranked Emory (15-5) will be the top seed in Lexington and also got a bye into Saturday's second round. Other teams coming to campus include Swarthmore (16-4) and Penn State-Harrisburg (15-7) on W&L's side of the bracket, with Asbury (13-4) and N.C. Wesleyan (9-6) on Emory's side.

The 23rd-ranked Garnet downed No. 44 Franklin & Marshall in Sunday's Centennial Conference championship match, 4-1, to gain automatic entry into this year's tournament, while the Lions got past St. Mary's (Md.), 4-0, in the United East title match.

Emory got into the NCAA Championship as an at-large team after falling by a 4-0 score against top-ranked UChicago in the United Athletic Association championship. The Eagles are also automatic qualifiers after they upset top-seeded Piedmont, 4-0, in the Collegiate Conference of the South championship match, while the Battling Bishops won their third consecutive USA South Conference title, 4-0, against Southern Virginia.

This weekend's pod in Lexington will commence on Friday with Swarthmore taking on PSU-Harrisburg and Asbury against N.C. Wesleyan. The winner of the Swarthmore/PSU match will then take on W&L on Saturday, with the advancing team between Asbury and N.C. Wesleyan drawing Emory on Saturday. Both of Saturday's winning teams will then square off on Sunday with a trip to the national quarterfinals in Claremont, Calif., on the line.

Live scoring and live video streams will be provided by W&L for all five matches this weekend. More information, including match times, will become available later in the week.
