W&L Men's Lacrosse selected as NCAA Tournament opening weekend host

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the field for the 2025 Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday night, and Washington and Lee was revealed to host opening weekend action.
 
The ninth-ranked Generals, who earned the ODAC's automatic bid into this year's tournament with a thrilling 13-12 overtime win over Lynchburg in the conference championship game on Saturday, will face-off against the winner of a midweek first round contest between Scranton and Immaculata. Gettysburg and Stevens Institute of Technology will also do battle in Lexington on Saturday, with Saturday's winning teams meeting on Sunday in the Round of 16.
 
The Royals (11-8) made their way into this year's tournament with the Landmark Conference's automatic bid, which they gained in a 10-6 win over Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Mighty Macs (14-5) are also automatic qualifiers through the Atlantic East Conference, as they topped Marymount by a score of 15-12 in the conference title game over the weekend.
 
Gettysburg (13-4), ranked No. 7 in the latest USILA Top 20, needed an at-large bid into the field following a 13-11 loss against No. 16 Dickinson in the Centennial Conference championship on Sunday. Twelfth-ranked Stevens (15-3) completes the five-team pod with a dominant season in the MAC Freedom Conference, which ended in a 20-5 victory over DeSales in the conference title game on Saturday.
 
Live stats and live video will be provided by W&L for all games in Lexington this weekend weekend. The Generals' game against the Scranton/Immaculata winner will take place on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., followed by Gettysburg and Stevens at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's winning teams will then meet in Sunday's Round of 16 at 3:00 p.m.
