Women’s Track and Field Wraps Up Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team concluded the Colonial Relays on Saturday afternoon with seven top-15 finishes.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Bailey Hedgemon highlighted the meet for the Generals by improving her No. 4 all-time mark in the program's discus top-10 list. Hedgemon recorded a personal best toss of 34.90m (114' 7.00"), finishing 15th overall and sixth among Division III competitors.
  • In the 100m hurdles, Amanda Romano placed 13th overall and second among DIII athletes, crossing the finish line in 15.04 seconds.
  • Romano later joined Annabelle Sutliff, Lucie Graziano, and Jesma Evans in the 4x400m relay, the final track event of the weekend. The squad posted a time of 4:06.41, finishing 10th overall and second among DIII teams.
  • In the shot put, both Emily Jackson and Katie Wood placed in the top 15. Jackson led the duo with a 10th-place finish(third among DIII) with a mark of 11.63m (38' 1.75"), while Wood finished 15th overall (seventh among DIII) with a toss of 10.76m (35' 3.50").
  • Camille Gillum and Simone Kasischke closed out the Colonial Relays in the high jump. Gillum led the way, clearing 1.61m (5' 3.25") to place third overall and second among DIII competitors. Kasischke followed with a clearance of 1.51m (4' 11.25"), placing 15th overall and fifth among DIII athletes.

  • Discus: Bailey Hedgemon | 15th overall; 6th DIII (34.93m; 114'-07.00")
  • High Jump: Simone Kasischke | 15th overall; 5th DIII (1.51m; 4'-11.25")
  • High Jump: Camille Gillum | T-3rd overall, T-2nd DIII (1.61m; 5'-03.25")
