LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 10 Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team recorded the largest win in program history on Wednesday night in a 31-0 rout at Randolph.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (9-3, 5-0 ODAC) raced out to a 12-0 lead through one quarter of play, getting goals from eight different players and a high of four from junior
James Haley. First-year
Jack Dalton followed Haley in first-quarter points with three on a goal and two assists.
First-year
Avery Richardson led the scoring in the second quarter with two goals, before he, senior
Gavin McClernan and sophomore
Harrison Hanson each scored twice in a 10-goal third quarter. The Generals closed out the win with four more goals in the fourth quarter from junior
Ben Irmscher, sophomore
Harrison Hanson and first-years
JD Matson and
James Meyer.
In total, 18 different W&L players recorded at least one goal, with 26 players logging at least one point.
TOP PERFORMERS:
Haley tallied a W&L-high six points on four goals and two assists, with Richardson at five points on four goals and one helper to lead the 12 Generals with multiple points in the game. McClernan (2g, 2a), Meyer (3g, 1a), Hanson (3g, 1a) and first-year
Robert Bath (4a) all posted four points, with an additional five Generals at three points each.
All four W&L face-off specialists saw action in the game, with first-years
Israel Mikkelson and
Jax Lou being on the field for 23 of the game's 32 face-offs. Mikkelson led the group at 12-of-13 with nine ground balls, followed by Lou who went 9-for-10 with four ground balls. Sophomores

Thomas Moxley went a combined 9-of-9 with five ground balls, while Mikkelson and Moxley both recorded an assist.

Thomas Garcia all caused a team-high two turnovers, with Donahue, Horne and Garcia each tallying one point and at least one ground ball. Seven other Generals caused one turnover apiece, with sophomore

Among goalies, first-year
JJ Kim played the first quarter and made one save, and sophomore
Nick De Cain stopped two shots in the second quarter. Junior
Ryan Boyd covered the third and fourth quarters, and he made two saves.
Jake Hanna started in the Randolph goal and made three saves across the first 20:31 before he was relieved by Keegan Slider. Slider made six saves and remained in goal until the start of the fourth quarter, where Adam Ulffers took over and stopped one shot the rest of the way.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
The Generals' 31-goal win over the WildCats (0-10, 0-5 ODAC) on Wednesday broke the program record for margin of victory. The previous record was 30 goals, established in a 31-1 win at on April 15, 2023, at Averett. The team's 31 goals also tied the program record for goals in a game. It is the fourth time the Generals have reached 31 (Apr. 19, 2024; Apr. 16, 2022).
TEAM STATS:
W&L ended the game with 69 total shots and 41 attempts on goal, compared to eight shots and five on goal for the WildCats. The Blue and White held a 47-13 advantage in ground balls and both teams had 12 successful clears. The Generals' clear rate was 100 percent, while the WildCats went 12-of-21 (.571).

The Generals will return to play on Saturday for their third game of the week as they host Randolph-Macon at 1:00 p.m. in a rematch of last season's ODAC semifinals.
