Women’s Track and Field Rewrites History at Hopkins/Loyola Invite

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team reset four program records and made 11 new updates to the program record books at the Hopkins / Loyola Invite in Baltimore on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White reset four program records on Saturday. Olivia Warr broke the program's 1,500m record by five seconds, clocking a time of 4:32.32 to finish in sixth place. Jesma Evans reset her own program record, which she set last weekend in the 400m, crossing the finish line in a new personal-best time of 56.52s to finish in second place. Ashley D'Ambrosia and Camille Gillum each reset their own program records in their respective field events. D'Ambrosia cleared a new program-best height in the pole vault, soaring over the bar at 3.81m (12'-06.00"), while Gillum improved her program record after clearing a height of 1.65m (5'-05.00").
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia, Lilly Versen, Olivia D'Ambrosia, and Ana Hodneland kicked off the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 4x100m relay, clocking a time of 49.73s. Annabella Sutliff, Mimi Kemp, Lucie Graziano, and Jesma Evans teamed up in the 4x400m relay this evening. The squad recorded the second-fastest time in program history, crossing the finish line in 3:59.47 to place second.
  • Amanda Romano posted two top finishes in the 100m and 400m hurdles on Saturday. Romano earned a first-place finish in the 400m hurdles, clocking a time of 1:01.94, which improved her No. 2 all-time mark. In the 100m hurdles, she finished in second place after crossing the finish line in 14.94s.
  • Mimi Kemp turned in an eighth-place finish in the 800m this afternoon, crossing the finish line in 2:19.21. Mackenzie Morante earned a third-place finish in the triple jump, leaping 10.68m (35'-00.50").
  • A trio of Generals turned in top-eight finishes in the shot put, with Bailey Hedgemon highlighting the group with a fourth-place finish. Hedgemon posted a season-best mark of 11.38m (37'-04.00"), while Emily Jackson finished fifth (11.37m; 37'-03.75") and Katie Wood finished eighth (10.69m; 35'-01.00").
  • Layla Keadle turned in a fourth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.50m (11'-05.75"), the fourth-best mark in program history. Simone Kasischke posted the tenth-best mark in program history after clearing a height of 1.55m (5'-01.00") to finish in fifth place.
  • Bella Devraj was the lone top finisher in the long jump, recording a fourth-place finish with a mark of 5.20m (17'-00.75"). Katie Wood earned an eighth-place finish in the javelin, recording a mark of 27.21m (89'-03.00").
  • Hedgemon and Emily Jackson finished third and sixth, respectively, in the discus. Hedgemon recorded a mark of 35.12m (115'-02.00"), the fifth-best mark in program history, while Jackson recorded the eighth-best mark in program history with a toss of 33.23m (109'-00.00").
  • Hedgemon and Bella Timmerding both turned in top-five finishes in the hammer throw this afternoon. Hedgemon paced the duo with a second-place finish after recording a toss of 46.27m (151'-09.00"). Timmerding finished fifth after posting a mark of 39.30m (128'-11.00"), the sixth-best mark in program history.

TOP TEN UPDATES
  • Olivia Warr broke the program's 1,500m record on Saturday after crossing the finish line in a time of 4:32.32, five seconds faster than Annelise Madison's previous record time which was set in 2013. Her time currently ranks 23rd in Division III this season.
  • Jesma Evans reset her week old program record in the 400m after clocking in a new personal best time of 56.52s on Saturday. Her time currently ranks 29th in Division III this season.
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia improved her program-best mark in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.81m (12'-06.00") to move up in the national rankings. Her mark currently ranks 14th in Division III this season. D'Ambrosia also posted the fifth-fastest mark in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 25.84s. Her time moved her past Jesma Evans' time of 25.87s which was set this season.
  • Camille Gillum rounded out the program record on Saturday as she reset her own high jump record, soaring over a height of 1.65m (5'-05.00") to move her up to 15th in Division III.
  • Amanda Romano improved her No. 2 all-time mark in the 400m hurdles this afternoon, clocking in a new personal best time of 1:01.96. Her time currently ranks 7th in Division III this season.
  • Sophia Breschi and Emma Mitchell both moved up in the 1,500m program record books on Saturday. Breschi moved past Avery Schiffman to No. 5 all-time after posting a time of 4:38.56 while Mitchell moved to No. 7 all-time after clocking in a time of 4:40.46.
  • Layla Keadle moved to No. 4 all-time in the program's pole vault record books after clearing a personal best height of 3.50m (11'-05.75"). Annabelle Sutliff posted the ninth-fastest time in program history in the 400m on Saturday, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 1:00.36. She surpassed Jordynn Palethorpe's time of 1:00.48 which was set in 2021.
  • Bailey Hedgemon improved her No. 5 all-time in the discus record books after recording a personal best toss of 35.12m (115'-02.00"). Emily Jackson moved up one spot in the discus top ten, surpassing Jamie White's 2017 mark with a new personal best toss of 33.23m (109'-00.00").
  • Bella Timmerding improved her No. 7 all-time mark in the hammer throw after recording a new personal best toss of 39.30m (128'-11.00"). Simone Kasischke rounded out the individual updates after moving into the top ten in the high jump with a new personal best mark of 1.55m (5'-01.00"). She surpassed Elizabeth Hertzberg's mark of 5'-00.25" which was set in 2022.
  • Annabelle Sutliff, Mimi Kemp, Lucie Graziano and Jesma Evans posted the second-fastest time in program history in the 4x400m relay, becoming the second team to dip under four minutes. The squad clocked in a time of 3:59.47 to move past the 2015 squad's time of 4:00.45.
