No. 16 W&L powers past Guilford in ODAC action

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 16 Washington and Lee men's tennis team got back into ODAC play on Saturday for the first time in three weeks, and they left Guilford College with a 6-1 win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (7-1, 4-0 ODAC) won seven of the nine total matches played on the day, including 2-of-3 in doubles for the early 1-0 lead. Senior James Kurani and first-year Ryan Good won, 6-2, at No. 2, while senior Eli Hirshberg and sophomore Heys Parker were 6-3 victors at No. 3.
 
Hirshberg posted the largest win in singles, as he dropped just one game at No. 3, with sophomore Sanjheev Rao winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Senior Will Kistler (7-5, 6-4), Parker (6-4, 6-1) and Good (6-3, 7-6 (5)) each picked up straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. The Quakers got their only team point of the day at No. 1 singles thanks to Andres Mercedes (7-5, 6-1).
 
UP NEXT:
The Generals will be back in action on Friday when they travel to No. 24 N.C. Wesleyan for a 6:00 p.m. first serve.
