Farbman, Marable Move Into Top Five on Final Day of Doc Jopson Invite

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Senior George Marable and First-Year Jonathan Farbman of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team moved into the program's top five record books at the Doc Jopson Invite on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM MEET
  • George Marable and Jonathan Farbman highlighted the final day of action on Saturday, each recording top-five program marks. Marable moved to No. 2 all-time in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 54.17s. He also competed in the 100m dash prelims, clocking in at 11.09s to finish eighth. Farbman claimed sole possession of fifth place all-time in the 200m dash, posting a personal-best time of 22.02s to finish in fifth place overall.
  • Fidel Small and Will Knight led the Generals in the field events. Small posted a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.90m (19'-04.25"), while Knight also finished fifth in the shot put, recording a season-best toss of 13.61m (44'-07.75").
  • Danny Jakubowski-Lewis recorded the seventh-fastest time in the 110m hurdles prelims at 15.85s, then improved slightly in the finals with a time of 15.84s to place seventh overall. He also turned in a strong performance in the 400m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 56.50s. Wilson Kasischke added an eighth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.82s.
  • Ryan McKenna and Luke Avigliano both posted top-five finishes in the 400m. McKenna crossed the line in a personal-best 50.46s to take third place, while Avigliano finished fifth with a time of 50.95s.
  • William DeLoach paced the Generals in the 800m, clocking in a personal-best time of 1:57.76 to secure a second-place finish. Davis Amare followed in seventh place with a personal-best time of 1:59.55.
  • The quartet of Javan Hirwa, Jonathan Farbman, Mark Freeman, and Duncan Meldrum capped off the weekend with a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay, posting a time of 3:25.21.

  • George Marable moved to No. 2 all-time in the program's 400m hurdles record book after clocking in a personal best time of 54.17s to secure a first place finish. Marable moved past Dillon Myers' time of 54.44 which was set in 2012. His time currently ranks fourth in Division III this season.
  • Jonathan Farbman moved to No. 5 all-time in the program's 200m dash record books after clocking in a time of 22.02s to finish in fifth place. Farbman moved past Jeff Giordano's time of 22.09s which was set in 2014. His time currently ranks 36th in Division III this season.
