Langhammer, Small Secure Top Finishes on Day One of Doc Jopson Invite

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Junior Evan Langhammer and Sophomore Fidel Small of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team secured first place finishes on the first day of the Doc Jopson Invite.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Small and Langhammer highlighted the action on Friday, both securing first-place finishes in their events. Small claimed the top spot in the triple jump after leaping 13.12m (43'-00.50"). Langhammer turned in a first-place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 4.63m (15'-02.25").
  • Evan Novak and Will Knight both competed in the discus on the first day of competition. Novak paced the duo with a second-place finish, recording a season-best mark of 40.35m (132'-04.50"). Knight followed closely behind with a toss of 39.88m (130'-10.00") to finish in third place.
  • Thomas Kallen was the lone General competing in the 3,000m steeplechase this evening. Kallen finished in fourth place after crossing the finish line in 10:15.03.
  • Troy Spillman and Will Vaughn rounded out Friday's action in the javelin. Vaughn turned in a seventh-place finish after recording a personal-best toss of 43.93m (144'-01.50"). Spillman finished in tenth place after posting a personal-best mark of 41.58m (136'-05.00").
