SALEM ,Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team won four of the five events on the first day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
- The Generals (51.75) hold a 7.75-point lead over Bridgewater (44) after winning four of the five scoring events on day of the conference meet. Lynchburg sits in third place with 38 points, followed by Virginia Wesleyan (27.75) in fourth and Shenandoah (18) in fifth place.
- Camille Gillum kicked off the first day of the conference meet with a first-place finish in the high jump. Gillum cleared her first three heights on her first attempt before clearing a height of 1.64m to secure her second indoor high jump title. Simone Kasischke finished in a tie for seventh place in her first conference championship, clearing a height of 1.43m.
- The Blue and White picked up their second event win of the day in the weight throw, as junior Bailey Hedgemon earned her first weight throw title with a toss of 16.28m.
- Olivia Warr secured the Generals' third win of the afternoon, crossing the finish line in 17:41.40 to win the women's 5,000m. Emma Mitchell finished three spots behind Warr in fourth place with a personal-best time of 17:57.18, which also ranks seventh in program history. Lydia Harvey turned in a fifth-place finish in the event, clocking a time of 18:18.67, while Claire Hamlet rounded out the scorers with a time of 18:49.98 to finish in eighth place.
- Madelyn Venable was the lone scorer in the long jump this afternoon, securing one team point after finishing in eighth place with a season-best mark of 5.09m (16'-08.50").
- Amanda Romano and Lilly Versen both qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles and 60m dash, respectively. Romano posted the fourth-fastest time in the 60m hurdles this afternoon, crossing the finish line in 9.25s. Versen clocked in a personal-best time of 7.83s, the second-fastest in the 60m dash field, to secure a spot in the finals tomorrow. Her time also moved her into third all-time in the event.
- Adia Vera, Ana Hodneland, Charlotte Gardner, and Mary Gorsky teamed up in the distance medley relay to cap off the first day of action. The squad clocked in a time of 12:45.67, the seventh-fastest time in program history, to secure the fourth and final win of the day.

- Lilly Versen posted the third-best time in program history in the 60m dash prelims on Saturday afternoon. Versen clocked in a time of 7.83s, the second-fastest in the field, to secure a spot in tomorrow's finals. She moved past Marissa Thompson's time of 7.94s which was set in 2012.
- Adia Vera, Ana Hodneland, Charlotte Gardner and Mary Gorsky teamed up in the distance medley relay to cap off the first day of action. The squad clocked in a winning time of 12:45.67 which ranks seventh in program history.
- Emma Mitchell moved into the program's 5,000m record books after clocking in a time of 17:57.17 to finish in fourth place on Saturday. Mitchell surpassed Jessica Shaw's time of 18:05.08 which was set in 2009.
