Bredehoeft, Tarbet Earn Major Awards, 16 Named to All-ODAC Teams

LEXINGTON, Va. - First-year Celia Bredehoeft and Senior Bella Tarbet earned two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Major Awards while 16 student-athletes were selected to the All-ODAC Teams following their performances at the ODAC Championships this weekend. 

Bredehoeft, a Vienna, Va., native, was named the conference's Rookie of the Meet after posting two wins in the 500 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle. The First Team All-ODAC selection also turned in a third-place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:37.05. Tarbet was honored as the Swimmer of the Meet after securing three individual wins this weekend. Tarbet secured her first win in the 50 freestyle after clocking a time of 23.58s while sweeping the 100 and 200 butterfly events. She posted a time of 56.06 to win the 100 fly before clocking an NCAA B-cut time of 2:04.95 to claim the top spot in the 200 fly.


Maria Jellig earned First Team honors after picking up a trio of wins during Championship weekend. She swept the 200 and 400 individual medley races, clocking times of 2:06.68 and 4:30.91, respectively. Jellig picked up her final win in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:03.83. Morgan Smith was named a First Team All-ODAC selection after winning the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.17 while turning in a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:06.21.


Marcy Mortimer earned her first All-ODAC nod, being selected to the First Team after three top-five performances. Mortimer finished second in the 400 IM (4:34.54) while posting a third-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.10. She capped off the weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 2:26.06. Haley Robinson posted three top-six finishes this weekend to be named to the First Team. Robinson finished second in both the 100 and 200 butterfly with times of 57.33 and 2:08.57 while turning in a sixth-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.71.


Vivian Pickeral and Paige McBoyle rounded out the First Team selections for the Blue and White. Pickeral turned in two top-five finishes this weekend, finishing second in the 100 backstroke (58.31) and fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:06.91). She also finished 15th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.90. McBoyle posted a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.65 while finishing seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.81) and the 200 IM (2:11.15).


The Blue and White had five student-athletes named to the Second Team All-ODAC team following the weekend. Tenra Adams secured her first career honor after finishing fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:57.27) and sixth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.18. Clara Attar earned Second Team honors after posting two top-five finishes. Attar clocked a time of 2:09.13 to finish in fourth place while posting a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.71.


Katelyn Crawford earned a Second Team nod after three top-ten finishes in her events. Crawford finished in fourth place in the 500 and 1,650 freestyle, posting times of 5:12.14 and 17:54.16, respectively. She also finished in seventh place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:40.87. Riley Moorman was selected to the Second Team after finishing in third place in the 200 freestyle, posting a time of 1:56.90. Moorman also finished in sixth place in the 500 freestyle (5:15.31) and seventh in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:13.68.


Peighton Kruzel rounded out the Second Team selections after posting two top-five finishes in her events. Kruzel turned in a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.62 while finishing in fifth place in the 200 butterfly after clocking a time of 2:11.99. Kruzel finished in 14th place in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 5:23.76.


Camlyn Belle, Myla Rice, and Schuyler Ross were all named to the All-ODAC Third Team following the championship meet. Rice turned in three top-six finishes this weekend with fifth-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (24.51) and the 100 freestyle (53.12), while finishing in sixth place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.15.


Ross earned Third Team honors after finishing fifth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.62 before clocking a time of 5:17.39 to finish eighth in the 500 freestyle. She wrapped up the weekend with a 14th-place finish in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 54.93. Bella earned All-ODAC honors in her first season with the Blue and White after turning in a sixth-place finish in the 200 fly, posting a time of 2:12.49. She also finished tenth in the 100 fly (1:00.04) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:13.69).
