Generals pick up wins in consolation, alternate brackets at ITAs

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team combined for nine wins across singles and doubles brackets on Friday during the second day of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
 
HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY 2:
  • First-years Todd Cannaliato and Justin Ilie teamed up in the B1 Doubles draw to get the Generals their first win of the day. They downed Deniz Finkel and Teddy Snyder (Ursinus), 8-3, before falling in the next round.
  • Cannaliato, Ilie and first-year Pearce Lane were all in action in the Championship Singles draw. Cannaliato and Ilie both won twice in the consolation bracket to advance to the quarterfinal round.
  • Junior Sanjheev Rao and sophomore Sahil Arora both picked up one win each in alternate singles brackets. Rao defeated Carnegie Mellon's Braden Chavez in straight sets in B1 while Arora topped Snyder (Ursinus), 6-3, 6-3, in B2.
  • First-year Harrison Silver and sophomore Ryan Good were in action in the B3 bracket. Silver went a perfect 2-0 to advance to the semifinals on Saturday, including a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (8) win in the quarterfinals against Nicholas Choo (Swarthmore).
