Kaycie Miranda Tabbed ODAC Rookie of the Year at Traditional Equestrian Championships

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee placed third at the 2025 ODAC Equestrian Championships on Friday at the Virginia Horse Center, finishing with 13 team points. Lynchburg won the title with 16 points, followed by Bridgewater (14), with Sweet Briar (11) and Hollins (9) rounding out the field.

The Generals put together a strong day over fences, taking 3rd in the first Equitation Over Fences round and winning the second round, before finishing 5th on the flat.

First-year Kaycie Miranda led the way, finishing 2nd overall to earn ODAC Rookie of the Year and All-ODAC honors. Eva Lunn joined her on the All-ODAC list with a 4th-place overall finish. Jade Condrell placed 15th, and Elisabeth Marek finished 16th.

Class 1 – Equitation Over Fences (Round 1)

Washington and Lee opened the championship with a third-place team finish in the first round of fences, posting a cumulative score of 243.00. Senior Elisabeth Marek '26 led the Generals with a score of 84.5, the highest on the team and among the top marks in the opening round. Kaycie Miranda '29 followed closely with a 79.5 average, while Eva Lunn '28 added a 79.0 to bolster the team total.

Lynchburg set the early pace with a 254.5 to win the first round, followed by Bridgewater (240.75) and W&L in third. The Generals' steady start positioned them squarely in title contention heading into the second round.

Class 2 – Equitation Over Fences (Round 2)

W&L delivered its best performance of the day in the second jumping round, winning the class with a team total of 251.00 — the highest of any school in either fences phase. Miranda and Lunn both topped the leaderboard with matching 85.5 averages, while Jade Condrell '26 posted an 80.0 to complete the top three scores that counted toward the total.

The Generals' clean, confident round secured seven team points and moved them into championship contention, putting them one point behind the leaders, the University of Lynchburg, with 11 points. 

Class 3 – Equitation on the Flat

The championship concluded on the flat, where Eva Lunn and Elisabeth Marek represented W&L. Lunn delivered a consistent performance, earning a 78.0 average, while Marek posted a 66.0. The team finished fifth in the phase with a cumulative 144.00 total. Bridgewater went on to claim first in the flat with a 166.00 total followed by Hollins at 161.00.
