Heaton Paces Generals at VSGA Intercollegiate Championship

CHESTERFIELD, Va. - First-year Reid Heaton of the eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team led the team with a T-6th place finish at the 76th VSGA Intercollegiate Championship at the Lake Chesdin Golf Club.

Heaton was the top finisher of the four Generals competing at the tournament, finishing in a tie for sixth place out of 40 golfers with a score of nine-over par (74-79 – 153). He carded three birdies in the final round this afternoon, along with nine pars. He capped off the back nine with a birdie and four straight pars to shoot a seven-over par 79.


Senior Peter Sheakley finished the two-day tournament in 19th place, shooting 15-over par (78-81 – 159). In the final round, Sheakley registered a birdie on the 16th hole while adding 11 pars to shoot a nine-over par 81.


Senior Teddy Ross moved up one spot in the final round to finish in 23rd place with a score of 18-over par (81-81 – 162). Ross carded a pair of birdies on holes five and 18 while adding nine pars to shoot a nine-over par 81.


First-year William Hull rounded out the Generals in the tournament, turning in a 32nd-place finish with a score of 24-over par (84-84 – 168). Hull carded a 12-over par 84 in the final round, recording a birdie on hole 14 this afternoon while adding seven pars. He notched three pars and a birdie over a four-hole stretch from holes 11–14.
