Gillum, Warr Break Program Records at VMI and Penn State

LEXINGTON, Va. / LEWISBURG, Pa. / UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.  - Junior Camille Gillum and Sophomore Olivia Warr of the Washington and Lee University women's track and field team broke program records on Friday afternoon at the VMI Winter Relays and the Penn State National Open.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Junior Camille Gillum set a new program record and personal best in the high jump to cap off the meet, clearing 1.67m (5'-05.75") to secure first place. Her mark currently ranks seventh in Division III while leading both the South Region and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
  • Sophomore Olivia Warr continued to impress in her second indoor meet of the season, breaking Carolyn Todd's 5,000m program record with a time of 17:13.79 at the Penn State National Open on Friday night, finishing in third place among Division I competitors. Warr's time currently ranks 15th in Division III, leading the conference and placing second in the South Region.
  • First-year Simone Kasischke also competed alongside Gillum in the high jump, finishing eighth with a personal best of 1.47m (4'-09.75").
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia claimed first place for the Blue and White in the pole vault, clearing a height of  3.56m (11'-08.00"). First-year Layla Keadle followed closely behind in second place, achieving a personal best of 3.41m (11'-02.25"), which ties for the fourth-best mark in program history.
  • Sophomore Abby Cholewa rounded out the pole vaulters with a seventh-place finish, clearing 2.96m (9'-08.50"). In the 5,000m run at the Winter Relays, sophomore Lydia Harvey was the only General competing. She shaved two and a half minutes off her personal best, crossing the finish line in 18:31.66 to place third.
  • Senior Madelyn Venable recorded a season-best mark of 5.06m (16'-07.25") in the long jump, earning a seventh-place finish. Meanwhile, senior Amanda Romano qualified for tomorrow's 60m hurdles final after running the fifth-fastest time in the prelims, clocking a season-best 9.22 seconds.
  • First-year Emily Jackson led the shot put crew, recording a personal best toss of 11.39m (37'-04.50") to place fifth. Her mark ranks third in program history, fifth in the ODAC, and 13th in the South Region. Junior Bailey Hedgemon finished seventh with a throw of 11.20m (36'-09.00").
  • The distance crew traveled to Lewisburg, Pa., for the Bison Open at Bucknell University on Friday. Sophia Breschi, Jesma Evans, Lucie Graziano, and Cassie Carr posted the second-fastest time in program history in the distance medley relay, finishing in 12:12.26. This time currently leads Division III and leads both the South Region and ODAC.
  • Senior Claire Hamlet was the top finisher for the Blue and White in the 5,000m at the Bison Open on Friday, crossing the line in 18:52.58 for a third-place finish. Her mark currently ranks eighth in the South Region and third in the ODAC.
  • First-years Ivy Gore and Olivia D'Ambrosia both set personal bests in the 60m dash on Friday afternoon. Gore finished in 8.40 seconds, while D'Ambrosia clocked in at 8.58 seconds.

  • Olivia Warr needed only two weeks to break two program records, surpassing Carolyn Todd's 5,000m time of 17:18.72 at the Penn State National Invitational on Friday. Warr clocked in at 17:13.79 to finish third. Her time currently ranks 15th in Division III while leading the ODAC and placing second in the South Region.
  • Sophia Breschi, Jesma Evans, Lucie Graziano, and Cassie Carr posted the second-fastest time in program history in the distance medley relay. The quartet finished in 12:12.26, a mark that currently ranks second in Division III while leading both the South Region and ODAC.
  • Layla Keadle climbed two spots in the pole vault record books after clearing 3.41m (11'-02.25"). Her mark ties Murfee Jones' record set in 2020 and currently ranks third in both the South Region and ODAC.
  • Lilly Versen moved up one spot in the 60m dash record books after clocking a personal-best time of 8.02 seconds, surpassing Summer Lollie's 2008 time of 8.03 seconds. Her mark currently ranks 16th in the South Region and fourth in the ODAC this season.
  • Emily Jackson advanced to No. 3 all-time in the shot put after recording a toss of 11.39m (37'-04.50") to finish in fifth place. Her mark currently ranks 13th in the South Region and fifth in the ODAC.
