LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's tennis team played its only two dual matches of the fall season on Saturday and swept both Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon, 7-0, to improve to 2-0.

Two of the doubles matches saw Generals post shutouts, while senior
Meagan Donovan and first-year
Jackie Daynovsky won by a 6-3 final at No. 3. Junior
Annie Jennings and sophomore
Haley Stoltz played at the top spot and first-years
Mary Kate Kahl and
Greer Webb were at No. 2.
Five of those players were also in the singles lineup for the Blue and White, with Jennings posting a clean 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1. Stoltz (3) and Daynovsky (5) both won by 6-0, 6-1 finals, and Webb was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 4. Donovan closed out Sarah Reich, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 6, and junior
Riho Iijima played at No. 2, closing out the team shutout with a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win.
MATCH vs. RANDOLPH-MACON (W, 7-0)
Webb and Donovan paired up in doubles against the Yellow Jackets in the afternoon, and they highlighted doubles with a 6-0 win at No. 3. Kahl and Iijima dropped only one game at No. 2, while Jennings and Stoltz earned their second victory of the day as a pair with a 6-3 victory at No. 1.
The Yellow Jackets took a total of four games off the Generals across the 12 singles sets, with Stoltz (2), Webb (3) and Daynovsky (5) not losing any games. Donovan (6) and junior
Jordan Kach (4) both picked up 6-1, 6-0 wins, and Jennings improved to 4-0 on the day with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Catherine Mowry at No. 1.

The Generals are hoping to earn an individual at-large bid into the ITA Cup starting on October 10, after strong performances at the regional tournament last weekend. As a team, the Generals will now break until their spring season when they host Bucknell in a scrimmage on February 7, before hosting Groundhog Palooza from February 14-16.
