FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Juniors Lauren Long and Grace Lorenz, along with first-year Allie Murrell, posted unblemished records on Saturday to lead the Washington and Lee women's tennis team's efforts on the first day of the 2024 ITA Southeast Region Championships.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY 1:
Long, Lorenz and Murrell all went 3-0 across their singles and doubles matches to advance to Sunday's main draws. After a first-round bye, Long and Lorenz paired up in the championship doubles draw and cruised to an 8-1 win over Veronica Komorek and Ruthie Njagi of Swarthmore in the Round of 32. Murrell teamed up with classmate Mary Kate Kahl, and they picked up their first collegiate wins with an 8-5 decision over ODAC rivals Lena Kersten and Lize van Veen of Randolph.

In singles, Long dropped just three games total in the Round of 64 before battling back from down a set to upend Linda Dimitroff of Mary Washington, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7). Lorenz and Murrell both advanced to Sunday's Round of 16 with two straight-set victories each. Lorenz defeated Alix Dry of Stevens, 6-2, 6-4, before needing a second-set tiebreak to get past Kendal Chang of Christopher Newport, 6-4, 7-6 (0). Murrell made even quicker work in her two singles wins, dropping seven games combined across the four sets.

There were three additional wins in the main draws for the Blue and White, starting with first-years Sarah Donnelly and Greer Webb, who opened their collegiate careers with an 8-5 doubles win over Olivia Guzzo and Tanea Spruill of Shenandoah in the Round of 48. Junior Annie Jennings and sophomore Haley Stoltz matched that result against CNU's Erin Gross and Eva Taylor, while Kahl rounded out the main draw winners with a 6-2, 6-0 singles Round of 64 victory over van Veen.

Stoltz highlighted the Blue 1 Singles draw with two wins to make it to Sunday's semifinal match. She began by downing Rachel Li of Carnegie Mellon (7-6 (3), 6-4) before dispatching Lily Muir of Salisbury (6-3, 6-1). Junior Jordan Kach also picked up a Blue 1 win when she outlasted Veronica Komorek of Swarthmore, 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7).
