LYNCHBURG / ROANOKE, Va. – The 16th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team improved to 7-0 in ODAC play and 12-1 overall on Thursday with a pair of road, conference shutouts over Lynchburg and Roanoke.
MATCH 1 – WASH. AND LEE 5, LYNCHBURG 0:
The Generals (11-1, 6-0 ODAC) dominated in the first match of the day, dropping only a single game across their five wins to clinch the team victory. Seniors
Gabi Moss and
Kaitlyn Chalker pitched a shutout at No. 2 doubles, and so did sophomores
Annie Jennings and
Isabella Custard at No. 3. Senior
Margaret Carlton and sophomore
Grace Lorenz recorded an 8-1 win at the top spot to close out doubles.
Moss and Carlton were the first two singles matches to finish, and both won by 6-0, 6-0 finals to end the match. Moss defeated Lauren Pascaldo at No. 1 and Carlton improved to 2-0 at No. 4 on the season over Jordan Ottaviano.
MATCH 2 – WASH. AND LEE 9, ROANOKE 0:
The Blue and White (12-1, 7-0 ODAC) earned its second ODAC sweep of the day, playing to completion at Roanoke (7-8, 4-2 ODAC). Doubles play against the Maroons mirrored the Lynchburg match, with Nos. 2 and 3 picking up 8-0 wins, with an 8-1 win at No. 1. Sophomores

Meagan Donovan and sophomore
Jordan Kach were at No. 3 and senior
Izzy Koziol paired with first-year
Haley Stoltz at No. 1.
Iijima (4) and Kach (5) did not drop a single game in their singles wins, while Koziol (3) and Donovan (6) both posted 6-0, 6-1 wins. Long also surrendered just one game at the top singles position (6-1, 6-0), while Stoltz completed the win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
The ITA announced its first individual regional rankings on Wednesday, April 3, since November. Long came in as the No. 4 singles player in the Atlantic Region and Moss earned the No. 10 spot. Playing almost exclusively together in doubles play this season, Long and Moss secured the No. 2 ranking in Atlantic Region doubles play, as they hold a 10-1 record this season.
