No. 32 Generals top No. 40 Occidental for 2-0 west-coast trip

LOS ANGELES – The 32nd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 6-1 decision over No. 40 Occidental on Friday to close out its California trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (6-1) swept doubles play, but the Tigers nearly salvaged a point at No. 2. W&L's Heys Parker and Josh Rassin held on, however, by a final of 8-7 (8-6).

In singles play, Occidental picked up their lone point at No. 2, as Ace Andres downed junior Will Kistler, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5). Parker added another win to his total for the day with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 4, while James Kurani (3) and Sanjheev Rao (5) also won in straight sets to round out the team scoring.

The match was ended early due to weather, yielding the 6-1 final. Senior Connor Coleman was in a third set against Mason Hart at No. 6 when the match was called, while junior Evan Erb and Ronald Chen were in a 10-point tiebreak after they split the first two sets.

UP NEXT:
The Generals fly back home ahead of their next match, which comes on Saturday, March 9, against No. 15 Johns Hopkins to kick-off the Duchossois Tennis Invitational.
