No. 32 Men's Tennis sinks Christopher Newport, 5-4

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The 32nd-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team prevailed by a final score of 5-4 over Christopher Newport to earn its second straight road win on Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (4-1) emerged from doubles play with a 2-1 lead, with wins coming from Evan Erb and Will Kistler (8-5) at No. 1 and Josh Rassin and Heys Parker (8-7 (5)) at No. 2.
 
The two teams then split the six singles matches to yield the final 5-4 score. Erb picked up a straight-set, 6-1, 6-4 win at the top spot over Eddy Porsmyr Hansen. Parker earned his second win of the win after he overcame dropping the first set against Ashton Legum, 7-5, to win the next two by scores of 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
 
The final W&L team point came from first-year Sanjheev Rao, who claimed victory at No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-4 final over Gus Mitchell.
 
UP NEXT:
The Generals will fly to the west coast for their next couple of matches, the first of which will come on Wednesday against CalTech with a 5:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT first serve.
