Allie Buchholz dished out her 2,000 career assist in the win, becoming the 7th player in program history to reach the milestone.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs RANDOLPH (W&L, 3-0 | 25-15, 25-18, 25-14)
- The Generals (20-2, 9-0 ODAC) kicked off the match with a 9-3 run, highlighted by kills from Allison Young, Emery Goerig, Avery Myers, and Riley Debiec, as well as a pair of service aces from Allie Buchholz. After a kill by Randolph's (9-11, 2-5 ODAC) Jamie Galinis, the Blue and White responded with an 8-1 run to extend their lead to 17-5. The run featured kills from Buchholz, Debiec, Grace Mitchener, and Penelope Quiles, along with a service ace from Myers. Both teams traded points until Allison Young finished off a Buchholz assist, securing the first frame 25-15.
- Katie Stone opened the second set by finishing off another Buchholz assist to give the Generals a 1-0 lead, but the WildCats quickly responded with two straight points to take a 2-1 lead. Both teams traded points until a Randolph service error sparked a 4-1 run, which included a kill from Goerig and a Buchholz service ace. The Blue and White then went on an 8-1 run to take an 18-10 lead, highlighted by five kills from Debiec, two from Mitchener, and another service ace from Myers. After a kill from Jill Warter, the Generals went on another 5-1 run to extend their lead to 23-12, with the run capped off by a Myers kill and four WildCat attack errors. Despite a late Randolph run that brought the score to 24-18, Myers closed out the second set with a kill.
- In the third set, the Blue and White opened with four straight points, featuring a pair of kills from Mitchener, one from Emily Schellenberg, and a Randolph attacking error. W&L used an 8-1 run to extend their lead to nine points, with kills from Debiec, Mitchener, and Buchholz, and a Myers service ace. After a Randolph kill made it 15-7, Myers delivered two more kills to highlight a 5-1 run, pushing the Generals ahead 20-8. Buchholz found Mitchener for the final point of the match, securing the Generals' 15th sweep of the season and moving them to 9-0 in ODAC play.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Allie Buchholz dished out a match-high 35 assists, becoming the seventh player in program history to surpass 2,000 assists in a Generals' uniform. She now ranks 7th all-time with 2,021 assists.
- Riley Debiec posted a match-high 12 kills on 21 attempts with just one error, recording a .524 hitting percentage. She also added four digs. Avery Myers was the only other player with double-digit kills, recording 10 on 28 attempts for a .214 hitting percentage, while adding 13 digs for her 12th double-double of the season.
- Both Myers and Buchholz recorded a match-high three service aces in the win, while Randolph's McKayla Padgett tallied one.
- Vivi Vasquez led the defensive effort with 18 digs on the back line, while also dishing out four assists. Buchholz and Myers also dug out 10 or more attacks. Tahani Villines led the WildCats with 12 digs and added four kills.
- Randolph's Brooke Murdock led the match with five total blocks (two solo, three assisted), while Buchholz and Grace Mitchener each recorded one.
W&L GAME NOTES
- The Blue and White improved to 20-2 on the season with a 9-0 mark in conference play. The Generals have swept eight of their nine conference matches this season and recorded their 15th sweep overall.
- W&L led in six of the seven team categories, including service aces (6), assists (42), and digs (67). The Blue and White recorded 44 kills on 115 attempts for a .235 hitting percentage, with a set-high .297 hitting percentage in the second set.
