Men's Tennis wins at Virginia Wesleyan to wrap up fall slate

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team closed its fall season on Saturday with a 7-0 sweep at Virginia Wesleyan.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (2-0, 2-0 ODAC) picked up the doubles point by winning all three matches out of the gates. Senior James Kurani and sophomore Britton Buckingham cruised to a 6-3 win at No. 2, while sophomore Sanjheev Rao and first-year Ryan Good earned a 7-5 win at No. 3. At the top spot, seniors Evan Erb and Will Kistler kept the Generals undefeated for the day when they won 7-6 (7-3).

Four of W&L's doubles players filled in the top four singles positions, while junior Jake Vo (6) and first-year Sahil Arora (5) rounded out the singles lineup. Kurani posted the largest win in singles play by a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4, while Erb (6-2, 6-2) and Kistler (6-4, 6-3) made quick work of their opponents at No. 1 and 2, respectively.

Rao also won in straight sets at No. 3, but needed a 10-2 score in a third-set breaker to clinch his win. Arora battled back after dropping his first set, 6-1, and won the second and third sets, 6-2, 7-5. Vo completed the results with a straight-set, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6.
