LEXINGTON, Va. – The 27th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 sweep over Roanoke on Tuesday afternoon in their first spring match.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (3-0, 3-0 ODAC) left no doubt in deciding the doubles point, as their three tandems outscored Roanoke's (1-1, 0-1 ODAC), 18-1. Seniors
Evan Erb and
Will Kistler (1, 6-0), senior
Eli Hirshberg and sophomore
Heys Parker (2, 6-0) and senior
James Kurani and first-year
Ryan Good (3, 6-1) posted the wins.
Hirshberg posted the biggest singles win of the day, as he won all 12 games played at No. 3. Junior
Jake Vo dropped just one game in his victory at No. 5 singles, while Kistler (6-2, 6-0) and first-year
Sahil Arora (6-0, 6-2) surrendered just two games. Erb and Good rounded out the W&L winners on the day, as Erb posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 and Good downed Jacob Nichols by a score of 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
