BARTOW, Fla. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team wrapped up regular season play on Tuesday with a 9-0 sweep of Warner of the NAIA.
The Generals close out the regular season with a 14-5 overall record, while Warner falls to 9-11 overall with the loss.
No doubles duo lost more than four games, with junior
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) and sophomore
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) sweeping Jake Edwards and Miguel Ferreira at No. 3. Sophomore
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) and senior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) (1), along with sophomores
Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) and
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek), both won 8-4 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
All six players who competed in doubles also won in singles. Hirshberg dropped the fewest games at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Coleman won both of his sets, 6-1, at No. 5. Kistler (6-3, 6-0) and Brady (6-2, 6-1) came in next with just three games dropped each at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
The Generals will await the end of the regular season around the ODAC to find out who they will play in the ODAC Quarterfinals. W&L, with a 9-0 ODAC record this season, will be the No. 1 seed, and will host a quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
