LEXINGTON, Va. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team defeated Averett by a 7-2 score on Senior Day on Saturday.
The Generals improve to 13-4 overall and 9-0 in the ODAC, while Averett, ranked 19th in the region in the most recent ITA rankings, fall to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) celebrated the Senior Day team win with a pair of wins on the court, coming in the form of an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles with sophomore
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS), and a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) decision at No. 3 singles. W&L dropped a point at No. 2 doubles, but went into singles with a 2-1 lead, as junior
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) and sophomore
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) handled Kazuki Fukushima and Prabjeet Chandho, 8-1, at No. 3.
Erb cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, while sophomore
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) (6-3, 7-5) and Kurani (7-5, 6-2) picked up straight-set wins at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Coleman added a team point at No. 5 with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 11-9 triumph.
The Cougars got their second point of the match at No. 2 singles in a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win from Jorge Figueroa.
The Generals have completed their 2022-23 ODAC slate and have two non-conference matches remaining before the ODAC Tournament. They will return to action on Monday, April 17, with a 3:00 pm road contest against Rollins in Winter Park, Fla.
