LEXINGTON, Va. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted its third consecutive 9-0 ODAC score on Thursday, defeating Lynchburg on the home courts.
W&L (12-4, 8-0 ODAC) junior
Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) and sophomore
James Kurani (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence Day) opened with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, and Coleman went on to post a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Senior
Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and sophomore
Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) won 8-4 at No. 1 and sophomore
Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) and first-year
Rider Yeaman (Dallas, Texas / Episcopal School of Dallas) earned an 8-3 win at No. 2.
Kurani dropped just one game in both sets in a No. 5 singles win, while Hirshberg nearly matched the result with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3. Yeaman downed Dan Hardy, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 6 and Brady rounded out the straight-set winners with a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 2.
After Erb won his first set by a 6-1 score, Levi Vigdorchik claimed the second set by a 6-4 count. The two went to a 10-point third set, where Erb prevailed by a 10-5 margin.
The Generals will play in their final ODAC match of the season on Saturday when they host Averett at 1:00 pm.
